SUMMARY:Indigo Dyeing
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a day of dyeing in our big vat of indigo.\nThis is a community event where we can mess around with Indigo plant dye which is a 6\,000 year old process. It’s a cool way to relax / make art /  meet other great folks. We’ll be tying\, folding and clamping with anything from bolts out of our hardware drawer to blocks\, sticks\, rocks and things that fall in the forest. We can experiment with some traditional resists like Shibori (where you sew the fabric before dipping)\, paste resists\, even elmers glue! \nBring white things to dye – tee shirts\, napkins\, bandanas. Dyeing larger items is possible but depends on the state of the vat and the number of people. We have been working with a ferrous vat so wool and silk are not a good choice nor are synthetics. Cotton\, linen\, hemp\, and rayon do very well.\n\n\nWe would appreciate donations that will help us cover our costs .\n(Venmo @sweetwaterhill ) \nPlease RSVP below so that we know how many vats to make / supplies to gather.\n\nRAIN DATE IS THE NEXT SUNDAY\, JULY 26th\, SAME TIME AND PLACE!

SUMMARY:Youth Fiddle Performance
DESCRIPTION:On July 28th 5pm\, join us in the big red barn for a free\, informal concert by some of the area’s most enthralling teenage fiddlers and musicians. The repertoire will range from irish jigs and galloping old-time tunes\, to luxurious waltzes and more. Their joyous melodies\, vibrant harmonies\, and rowdy rhythms will have you stomping\, clapping\, and and totally inspired! \nBring a potluck dish if you plan to stay for dinner. Last minute drop-in’s are welcome! But if you’re able\, please RSVP here. \nThe musicians will be led by local musician and educator Annika Amstutz\, director of the Fiddle Orchestra of Western Mass. Annika is a cross-genre fiddler who loves adding some old-time twang to her New England tunes and lets a little Celtic flair slip into her bluegrass licks.  She believes the world would be a better place if we all made more music with our neighbors and she loves supporting musicians playing together.  In her work as a private teacher and in group instruction\, Annika focuses on giving musicians the skills to be able to dive into jamming with others and sharing joy through music. annikaamstutz.com

SUMMARY:Map and Compass Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Come play in the woods and learn to stay found\nJoin us for a fully hands on experience learning skills for navigating on and off  trail. We will spend the morning learning to read topographical maps\, doing compass work including taking bearings and learning how to follow them. The afternoon will be a fun on and off trail hike with the group creating a travel plan and then leading the way as a team. \n  \nIf you would like to pay an amount between the ticket prices listed below please Venmo us at @sweetwaterhill – label it “map and compass August” and email us with your name.
